A restaurant built inside a genuine first-century BC Roman wine cellar on the quieter side of Trastevere. The vaulted stone basement where you dine was part of a Jewish synagogue before that, and archaeological fragments are visible in the walls. The kitchen works with ancient Roman recipes adapted for modern palates alongside traditional Roman dishes. The wine list is deep in small Italian producers. It is a place where the setting genuinely enhances the meal rather than substituting for it, and the owners are passionate storytellers about the building's layered history.
